DANA D. WELLS, PH.D., MBA – CEO & PRINCIPAL
Dr. Dana is a business transformation strategist and trusted advisor to energy industry leaders in corporations disrupted by digital transformation, macroenvironmental factors, and new growth strategies.
These leaders hire her to reduce people risks that cause the 70% failure rate of $100M capital improvement and operations excellence projects.
After spending almost two decades working on multibillion-dollar companies’ business transformations, Dr. Dana knows what truly ensures the success of capital improvement projects.
From 2013 to 2018, Dr. Dana served three Shell business transformation initiatives as their global transformation and change leader. The Smart Manufacturing Initiative generated $200M in reliability and margin benefits in five years, a 190% return on investment. In 2018, Dana Wells & Associates (DW&A) received a Shell Quality Award for Advisory and Consulting Services.
While working with Shell, from 2017 to 2018, Dr. Dana served on Shell Project Skills Academy competency working group and the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Oil & Gas Working Group’s global competency framework subgroup. There, she developed systems engineering competencies for both oil majors and oilfield services companies.
Dr. Dana served as HR transformation advisor on Cameron’s $150M business transformation program and as the Gulf Coast region HR manager responsible for the people integration of Flowserve Corporation’s $50M pump and oilfield services acquisition.
She obtained a 100% reduced-workforce retention rate during integration.
Her company, DW&A, is a supporting sponsor of the Houston Energy Breakfast and ambassador for InnovateEnergy. Similarly, Dr. Dana is United States Ambassador for the Global Innovation Management Institute, and Senior Advisor – Energy Sector for The Center for Innovation, Excellence, and Leadership.
Dr. Dana is a Certified Organization Design Professional, Human Capital Strategist, Six Sigma Green Belt, and a Global Innovation Management Institute® Innovation Leader, one of 50 worldwide. She holds a Ph.D. in human capital management, an MBA, an MA in industrial/organizational psychology, and a BS in psychology.
